Introduced, in the spring of 1963 (Ford traditionally introduces new models in September), they instantly became known as the "Princess Monaco T-Bird". ![]() ![]() There are less than 30 still known to exist. Only 2,000 of these unique cars were built. This is one of those odd, Limited Edition Automobiles that only a crazed Ford Nut or Thunderbird Aficionado might be aware Ford ever offered. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. I find great pleasure in just admiring this car, driving it is even better! It was professionally appraised at $93,000 after restoration was finished. I did not know the back story, the car spoke for itself. I look at thousands of cars and I could spot the difference in this one. The floors have no rust, they have been prepped and sealed. The brakes were completely restored, e-brake assembly is complete. The fuel system was replaced- tank, sending unit and lines. The rear end was completely rebuilt and detailed. The Cruise-O-Matic was rebuilt and is detailed. The bottom of the motor and all it's components still look new. The dual exhaust is stainless from tip to tip. The rear suspension is new as well, it has coil over shocks. The front end was completely removed, disassembled, rebuilt, detailed and reinstalled. UNDERSIDE: It is outstanding, literally every nut and bolt looks new. It also includes the original hubcaps, a very high quality soft car cover and a whole stack of books and assembly manuals. The spare is a matching new Good Year tire. Behind the left flap is the restored jack assembly. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Meticulously restored. The hinges are cadmium plated, it has the hood insulation, reproduction stickers and the washer bag. The air conditioning system was completely restored. The exhaust manifolds were ceramic coated. The 390-300 hp motor was completely rebuilt, a spec sheet is included. The original radio was rebuilt with modern guts.ĮNGINE COMPARTMENT: It is concourse restored in the engine compartment. Every light works, every bulb in the car was replaced. It features power windows and locks, both systems were rebuilt. Right down to the little bits and pieces, everything is beautiful looking. The seats were restored, recushioned and reupholstered. New rose carpet was installed and some custom Thunderbird mats. It has the swing away wheel which was professionally restored. The components in the dash were restored and reinstalled, everything functioned. It was completely gutted including the dash and console. Glove soft white leather upholstery, wood grain trim, rose color accents and plenty of sparkling chrome. All weather strips and seals were replaced. The door jambs are painted slick, the latches were replated. The rose color top is also the original in very nice condition. The glass is original, it was removed and polished. ![]() Those are restored original Kelsey Hayes wires wheels ($3,500) with Thunderbird spinners. When I say every piece of trim, I mean every piece from the window frames to the headlight bezels. Every single piece of stainless trim was straightened and polished like new. Every single piece of chrome was replated to show quality. It was repainted it's original corinthian white using premium primer sealer and acrylic paint. It is straight and the panels fit precisely. Ford presented car #1 to Prince Ranier of Monaco.ĮXTERIOR: The body was taken down to a bare shell. It also features wood grain trim and genuine leather upholstery. The package includes dark rose color landau top, padded dash and carpet. #1,051 of 2,000 Principality of Monaco limited editions made. The 79,000 miles on the odometer is original, only 1,500 miles since finished. There is a detailed restoration log book. This was a no expense spared restoration, stripped down until there was nothing more to take apart. There were 28 premium cars in the collector's estate.
